Homemade Laundry Detergent
One of my absolute favorite things to make recently is our own laundry detergent. When I started researching the ingredients in the detergent we were buying from the store I immediately started making my own. The detergents on the shelves are full of harmful chemicals that are found to disrupt our hormones and have the potential to cause cancer… NO THANK YOU. When you think about it- the laundry detergents we use touch nearly everything in our homes from the towels we use to the clothes we wear. Making sure we trust the ingredients we use on these every day items is important! So let’s make some good stuff!

Recipe-
2 bars castile bar soap (https://amzn.to/4dvx8Jm)
2 cups baking soda (https://amzn.to/3M0jC4r)
4 cups washing soda (https://amzn.to/3YZ6NiP)
1 cup of Epsom salt (https://amzn.to/3SJqFCm)
1 cup solid hydrogen peroxide (https://amzn.to/3LZlAST)
optional 2 oz of essential oils (https://amzn.to/4cl3HIU)
I prefer to use eucalyptus, lemongrass, or both! The scent is totally up to you and your personal preference.
I typically chop the castile bar soap up and throw it into a food processor like this one, https://amzn.to/4dj8WKq. These food processors are great because you can use them for everything from homemade salsa to cauliflower rice to laundry detergent- haha, the list is endless. I process the soap until it’s a fine powder and then mix it with the other ingredients listed above in one of these containers (https://amzn.to/46POTRh).
Scoop 1/4 cup into each load with a splash of plain white vinegar and waaaalah! Clean laundry that you know is actually CLEAN! Happy washing :)
